Terror Valley😭🔫

बटव: या रलिव, या गलिव,या चलिव

(Kashmiri Hindus: Either convert to Islam or get Killed or leave Kashmir)

This was the slogan that was fired at my family and other Kashmiri Hindus when they were forced to leave their home, livelihood and motherland in a heartbeat. Lists were drawn, leaders were killed and those who couldn’t leave were traumatized with daughters being raped, sons being dismembered and eventually getting themselves killed.

Our misery did not just end there. Temples were broken down, homes turned to brothels, neighbors harbored our killers and our future was stolen. All government did was remain silent.

We cried, we died and no one protected us from our massacre. Each family of 10–15 members were allotted a tent meant for two. We never complained. Snakes killed our relatives, we didn’t complain. We died in unhygienic tents but we never complained. All we did was look forward. We never begged but worked. We skipped a meal so that we can send our children to school. We did everything but never complained.

I look back and wonder what did our government do? Nothing. They were right to behave like that because its better to protect radicals in the valley than the displaced community.

Its been decades since our displacement and what has government done, nothing. What has a Kashmiri Pandit done? Made impossible possible. Most times when a community is forced into exile they vanish. But we not only survived but prospered. I am typing this article from my iPhone which I am able to afford only because of the tremendous hard work my people did since they were reduced to zero.

Radicals that were minority have turned into majority in the valley and still violence continues. Every day lots of soldiers are killed by the radical majority who is meant for their own protection and government does nothing. But what the hell will the central government do until the curse of Article 370 is wiped out of the valley. Removing it will bring development in the valley which was long overdue.

Our soldiers kill the leaders of terrorism and the people of the valley kill soldiers in retaliation. Terrorists are buried like saints and all government of valley does is smile behind the radicals. I don’t need to point out but its very clear how much patriotism blossoms in the heart of people from the valley. Its the mindset that has gone all wrong.

We pandits suffered a lot and all we ever wanted was to return to our motherland. Are we asking the impossible?

I know and very well understand that our wish falls on deaf ears. Its not the favor that we are asking but our right.

Even a laymen understands that the valley is in turmoil and if action is not taken immediately then the day is not far when all will be left in the valley will be remains of bloodshed.

People fighting in the name of religion are doing nothing but bringing down the reputation of their own religion. No religion preaches hatred but the people itself. All these radicals are so stupid that they misinterpret their own sacred texts. I tell them to delve into their religion more deeply before picking up turbans of death.
