“O flock of heavenly cranes
cover my child with your wings.”
Cranes are a symbol of hope and healing in the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean tradition. Traditionally, it’s believed that if a person folded 1000 origami cranes — their wishes would comes true. As a result, this has become a popular custom to fold 100 cranes and present them as gifts to friends/loved ones.
The crane is also seen as a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times. It’s something that I saw in my own life when I took a semester off to study in New York City.
New York City was an adventure within itself. It was something that I loved, but I also regretted.
It was amazing to experience and meet people who have impacted my life in so many different ways, but I do understand that I lost myself while trying to find myself in the city.
It’s very easy to get caught up in the city life and go with the flow. There is the hustle and bustle that you need to always be caught up in and sometimes that hustle isn’t always a good thing. There are multiple scenarios where I made the wrong decisions and needed hope in that situation. New York ended up being multiple mistakes that I would have to carry back to my peaceful home in California.
When I was making a logo for my website, my mind when straight to the times where I regretted the most but overall experienced the most growth. I channeled all the hurt, pain, and mistakes that I felt and put it in to multiple designs before I realized that I was going about the processes in the wrong way.

I realized that from these mistakes that I’m still here. I’m still going to make a living for myself and I’m going to continue on my journey — be it for the next 1000 years.
The paper crane is a symbol of the hope that I’m trying to strive for in my life. It’s a symbol of the optimistic journey that I’m looking to find in the future. It’s my way of reminding myself that I am protected by the wings of the crane.
“You are the bird of happiness .”
