Hello everyone,

For the past several months I have been working very hard on my new course, “Practical Firebase for iOS Using Swift”. I am pleased to announce that the course is now published and is available for sale.

I have always believed that the best way to learn something is to just do it. Practical Firebase for iOS Using Swift is a reflection of my experience in learning by doing. In this course, we are going to create multiple real world applications which will allow us to see the power of Firebase platform.

Let’s take a look at the different applications we will be building in this course:

High Waters

High Waters app is near and dear to my heart because it affects my local Houston community. The purpose of the app is to inform users of the flooded regions. Users can drop a pin on the map indicating the flooded region. The pin is visible to anyone without refreshing the app. The position of the pin is persisted in the Firebase database.

Grocery App

Grocery App is an idol app for understanding the parent-child relationships in Firebase. The app also introduces the user to Firebase authentication system which allows the user to register and login with their own custom credentials.

The user is able to create new shopping lists and then add items to the shopping list. Each shopping list is persisted along with the grocery items based on the credentials of the user.

WhatsUp Chat

Chat applications like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, Viber etc have become an integral part of our society. In this section we are going to build a complete chat app called “WhatsUp”. The WhatsUp chat application will allow the user to send text message as well as photos to other users in the chat room. This section will introduce you to the JSQMessagesViewController, which makes it easy to create chat like interface. The student will also learn how to use Firebase Storage to upload photos to the Firebase platform.

I am really excited about this course and I hope you will enjoy learning and integrating Firebase with your iOS applications.
