Great point! Funnily enough, I had a Sony Ericsson P800 and that odd Nokia. I guess a Treo was a smartphone too — and I had one of those.

The iPhone was the smart phone that most analysts recognise took the smartphone out of the niche category (expensive enterprise devices, or for a small individual) into a mainstream category.
