Why FRESHERS struggle for job?
“I need a job. Please someone help me. I know X language, and I can do X things.”
We have been seeing such types of post on social medias on daily basis. From Facebook groups to meetups, and when there is friendly visit, so called freshers never leave the chance to express their need. It’s not bad, it’s just not much effective. The job seekers always express their need to the employed personnel/friend.

I have just passed such moment of my life a month ago. That was really hard period for me. I was recent graduate student with some basic programming knowledge. I applied for all the position that felt suitable for me wrt to the knowledge I have had. Most of the companies never replied to me, which left me in the situation whether I should wait with hope or move on. After I got the job, just few weeks ago, I came to stable situation. Something changed. My stress level changed from ‘I need job.’ to ‘I need to complete the task’.
So a question was there inside of me.
Why? Why everyone struggles for the job after they graduate? Why I struggled so long?
I needed the answer, and the answer was all within me. Most of mine friends too were unemployed, so that helped me to do my analysis and research, to find the answer for ‘WHY’.
Why some (one) get the high paying job even before they are graduated? Why some don’t get the job even when they have high grades and are idle for long time?
The time I spent being idle was 7 months. The time I spent learning just to get job was one month. Those two times were largely different.
So I will try to explain it. In reality, everyone knows why some fail to get the job while some are getting high paid job even when they graduated together. The present IT industry of our country is struggling one. They don’t want the average ones, they just wants the best ones who can do the things they assign in short period of time, and who has got great knowledge of programming. Such things can be known from the advertisement of job vacancy by the companies. That vacancies takes the hope of freshers.
During the four years college degree, we spend our time doing a lot of things. From getting high grades, to failing some subjects, visiting new places to enjoying with friends while being at futsal or somewhere by bunking the classes. We have done a lot of things in our four years of college.
It’s not bad that we do such things. Those are the ones which gives us the best memories to remember when friends are not around. But we forget one thing: To be prepared for the opportunity that we need after the college. Even till the last day of college, our mentality remained same. We didn’t change. That’s where we made mistake. Others who got the job after their graduation took their chances at those time where we failed.
We missed the opportunity. We have that golden time, when our subjects are not so heavy, and classes are not much being held. We have had the time, and the energy too. Still we missed it, cause we had developed the habit of our daily routines.
TIME FOR CHANGE:

There remains the question, “So how can we make the difference”.
If you are still in your college, then you can still get your future in your hand.
If you are graduated and waiting to be in your first job, you too can increase the probability of landing your first job.
The fifth-eighth semesters are the golden time for us. We can be the best ones if we can grab the time, and make our selves do the things which is needed to be done. In this time, we can involve in various project works, which are also the requirement of the college degrees. We can allocate some hours from our daily routine for programming, in distracted free environment. We should network with the best personnel in the field which we want to have career in. Involving in the meetups, and getting closer to the lecturers who can guide us to be better, could make us one of the best.
We miss that time, that opportunity and that’s what leads to the struggle age; post-graduation age.
“If one wants to learn something, no one can stop him/her, except himself/herself.”
We(most) are missing that opportunity. I learned too late about it. I wish someone has guided me. It’s not that I was not being guided, I was guided by some of the best personnel, poor me didn’t follow that path whole time. It was me, who stopped doing things what I used to do in the back days where I was actually learning something.
Don’t make such mistakes. Grab that time, get involved and you will be in love with self when you will see all the other ones who missed the chance will be struggling and you are working in the company which you always wished.
So what if you have already missed those golden time, and are struggling now.

Don’t worry. Worrying just makes us insane and think randomly. Our mind is filled with all those thoughts that comes with worrying. We think, what if we could get opportunity. Stop. Just stop there. Stop all your thoughts and listen to me.
I have passed that time. WAKING up, getting fresh, have some meals, YouTube , Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, Quora, LinkedIn, have dinner, again get involved in the internet surfing till it was 4 or 5 in the morning, then go to sleep. That was my routine some time ago. I knew it was not only me, who was having such awful time. I am living as PG, and even to pay for the rent, I had to struggle, and had to ask to my parents.
I searched for the job, surfing every job portal site, made request to most of my friends who were employed and seniors who could help me lend in my first job.
Still I was missing something at that point. I was just worrying. I wasn’t doing anything that could catch someone’s sight.
Then one morning I woke up, and started coding. It was not all of sudden rather I had struggled to code daily for long time. It was my necessity. I am not saying I am the great coder/programmer. I meant to say, I started. That was the beginning of everything. Once I started, I did coding for regular one month, and learned a lot of the things during those time by doing various projects. I am specific to Android. I made few sample apps, learned use of the third party libraries, JSON parsing, new architecture component. What I did was, tracked all vacancies, and noted all their requirements, and started to learn taking those vacancies as my must have skill. During those time, brother Niroj Shrestha helped a lot to me. I was happy to have him by my side, as his suggestions helped me to tackle every problems. Even till this day, they (brother Niroj and Sanam Dangol) are helping me in to tackle situations when I am stuck.
Even if you have graduated and aren’t employed yet, just don’t worry. If you want to have career as programmer, then you need to start now. Get connected to the friends, seniors who are working in the field which you want to have career in. Read blogs, learn from the videos, use GitHub, and all the resources available there. You will soon see yourself progressing. That progress will motivate you to move forward. Just never stop, once you have started, which will help you be an experienced programmer. The most important thing about that is; it will increase your confidence, which will in turn help you express yourself freely, and energetically.
Start now. Move forward. Whatever you have done in past doesn’t matter now. Your grades doesn’t matter, your backlogs doesn’t matter, your habits doesn’t matter. What matters now is, how much time you spent learning the things which will be used when you will be employed. Start learning/coding now.
