Hidden Tears
To the Ones Fighting Silent Battles
There are some battles that are deeply personal …
the kind of tears you can’t show to anyone,
the silent suffocation some people carry within them, day after day.
I want those people to win.
All of us have our own kind of darkness … a quiet sigh we release while staring at the ceiling,
or with our face turned down to the floor.
We let it dissolve into the air.
We press our unspoken grief into pillows and bedsheets.
Each of us has something we couldn’t quite reach …
something that softened us,
taught us how to get lost in the window seat of a bus with our headphones on,
taught us that maybe no one is truly okay, anywhere.
I want these people to forget it all..
even if just for a moment and finally win.
To breathe in the scent of their favorite flower with a full heart.
To not hide their sorrow behind raindrops.
To stretch slowly and peacefully when they wake up…
like they truly belong to the morning.
