Best Horror Movies In Netflix (2024)

Looking for some spooky entertainment on the couch? Don’t look further because here is the complete list of the more recent nail-biting flicks for you. Netflix is currently hosting a virtual library of the best horror films, all bona fide classics of the genre, guaranteed to freak you out in seconds.

So, here are some of the extremely scary horror movies from all over the world that you can stream right now on Netflix. Let’s delve straight into the world of the paranormal.

Under the Shadow (2016)

Babak Anvari’s debut film is a terrifying tale set in the 1980s Tehran during the War of the Cities. Narges Rashidi plays Shideh, a medical student banned from her studies due to the surging political activities. She must protect her daughter Dorsa (Avin Manshadi) in between the growing violence and bombings while her husband is away. It doesn’t seem like things can get much worse until Shideh and Dorsa are plagued by an evil genie.

The performances are strong and the filmmaking is flawless, portraying a war broken out in Iran that is almost unpleasant to behold. Anvari has grown up in a culture where VCRs and VHS recordings were forbidden, and his debut reflects a passion for film that cannot be measured. The supernatural shocks are effective, but they are never as terrifying as Shideh’s reality, which appears to be Anvari’s purpose.

Apostle (2018)

Gareth Evans, known for The Raid, presents a horror movie with absolute violence. Set in the early 1900s, Dan Stevens plays an Englishman who goes undercover in a cult to save his sister.

His House (2020)

Remi Weekes’ critically praised supernatural horror film deals with the South Sudanese refugees who are seen adjusting to a dangerous settlement in a small-town Europe. This is a horrifying dramatic act, similar to the Babadook and Under the Shadow, rather than a sequence of objects that jump out and scream boo. The real-world subject matter is twisted and heartbreaking, and the stars, Wunmi Mosaku and Sope Dirisu, deliver remarkable performances.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a Netflix original, acts as a legacy sequel to Tobe Hooper’s classic 1974 blockbuster, but it falls considerably short of it. It is rather a sloppy attempt to match the success of 2018’s Halloween, but there is enough violence to satisfy that level.

Get Out (2017)

Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winning humorous thriller is one of the most daring studio-produced pictures of the century, as well as one of the most significant, heralding a new wave of horror that is still evolving. Daniel Kaluuya plays a young African-American man terrorized by his Caucasian girlfriend’s family. Continue reading
