First, i will explain to all of you what’s the matter of have an obsession for looking and having “this stupid rarest book in the world"—me in 2020.
The matter is… throwback to 2020 where Corona made all of us scared, and people just stay and doing anything at their home. Well, Corona also had infected me (mentally). I mean.. i was crazy, stupid, really introverted (still tho), have no social skills, scared of people, and everything was really bad and terrible. But, there was something that finally i could be grateful for all this time. So, i downloaded tiktok and my FYP was a scene edits of movies and series (you know, when you have finished a movie, i bet you’re gonna search it on the TikTok bar, so you can see all of their scenes edits).
And yeah, I found #BookTok, and I was like, ‘OHH, THIS IS HEAVEN?’ cz every single video is only about books! (But I’m a totally selective person about books.) And then, I found out some kind of like—my taste? Idk it feels cringe if i say my aesthetic taste, so its name is *Dark Academia*, and now I feel like this core could hit me for.ever.
Singkat cerita, aku nemu rekomendasi buku dan film yang katanya, they’re giving *Dark Academia* vibes. They were The Picture of Dorian Gray (a book) and Dead Poets Society (a movie). Tapi aku nonton DPS dulu waktu itu. DPS truly made me swim deep into *Dark Academia*. It will always amaze me. I can feel the atmosphere, and I can smell how nice the autumn air is. Unpopular opinion— the movie was better than the book. It sounds weird, I know. Probably people keep saying, ‘But the movie was based on the novel’. Nah, the fact is, the novel was based on the movie. :)
So… after i watched DPS, immediately i looked for the book (still in 2020 anw). Weeks, months, and years, I keep looking for dps on the online shop but it’s very hard to find the original book.. I mean, everytime i finally found it on online shop, it was always those stupid printed books. So i decided to forget about having DPS book and assumed I’d never find it. Yeah, i just keep forgetting until this year (2023) like out of nowhere that book was appeared on the random section. AND I WAS MAD AND HAPPY AT THE SAME TIME. Like, where have u been all this time brooooooo??
BUT THE IMPORTANT THING IS IT’S ONLY 50K AND IN BAHASA. 50k for a Dead Poets Society second-hand book is really pretty brilliant luck for me. I never felt sooo amaaziingg (truly). At least it’s an original book, bro.. and ofc it has an ISBN FOR OFFICIALLY. AND—OH YEAH, before that i had checked dps book on twitter and the fun fact is that I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR DPS BOOK. There were so many people who asked about dps books like ‘wtb novel dead poets society, meskipun bekas gapapa’ BRO AHAHAHAHHAAH, IT IS SOOO FUNN BCS I AM THAT THE CHOSEN ONE WHO CAN GOT DPS BOOK, i dont mind if it’s a second book, it’s more vintage for me /smirk.
