What Is Your Time Worth?

Time is limited. When things are limited, they become valuable because people can’t get enough to satisfy their needs. Since no one can reclaim lost time, it’s important to make the most of the time one has on Earth.

Time is Money

How often have we heard this statement? In fact, time is more valuable than money. You can work to earn money but not time. Waste your money and you’re only out of money, but waste your time and you have lost a part of your life.

“You may delay, but time will not, and lost time is never found again.” ~ Benjamin Franklin

I made this table below to show how much your time is worth in currency.

based on 8 hours working day

Time is Constant

Everyone is given the same amount of time every day. 60 seconds a minute, 60 minutes an hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. But we never knew how much time we have left in our life — 1 hour, 1 week or 1 year left?

A lot of us admit that we don’t have enough time. Do we need another extra hour a day, maybe 25 hours a day, 8 days a week or 13 months a year? Will it be enough?

Time is Irreplaceable

The time we spent can never be replaced. Yet a lot of us spend at least 50% of our day on activities and things that have no benefits to anyone including ourselves such as social media and gossiping. We literally waste half of our lives doing things that have no benefits.

Don’t Wait

On average, we live for 70–80 years. Some people — “The Procrastinators” believe that “there will always be tomorrow”, “we still can do it next week”. For them, time is infinite.

Fortunately, there are some people who believe that “life is short & I’m not going to be here forever. So I’d better make the most of my time on earth”. They choose to live in the moment. They grab every opportunity in front of them. They realize the importance of planning their life for maximum personal satisfaction.

You need to allocate 20% of your time on planning and 80% on execution. Without a sound plan, you will have no direction, you will be drifted in your life.

Planning is not just deciding what you want to do in the future, it’s about what you have to do now, in order to have a future.
