Today, as we celebrate, honour, and salute our workforce — the people whose work and actions make our life a little better each day; the people who do the apparently small things for us; the people who ensure our lives are a cakewalk while they struggle to get everything right and sorted, I realize the importance these people have in the society and how our lives would actually be a conundrum if they are not there. The sense of responsibility this realization instils in me is immense, but it pains me to see that not everyone feels the same. Since ages the supposed ‘support staff’ has not been given its worth and have been taken for granted. They have been subdued and subjugated by people like you and me and the so called ‘system’, never really given the value they deserve — the value every human deserves, as even after ages since evolution was initiated, man has yet to come to terms with concepts like equality.

We have time and again created differences in our society on the basis of cast, creed, religion, gender and occupation and then justified it by the concept of supremacy and leadership, but today as I stand before you all as the School Captain, I send across a message of a revolutionised leadership to all my brethren. A message- which does not make me superior to anyone, but makes me a servant to the society that I am a part of and have a responsibility to serve. It is that feeling that causes waves of gratitude to flow through my entire being as I stand here and have the opportunity to honour individuals who have served us without question, with a sheer love for labour. I salute their firm spirits, committed and consistent efforts and selfless service and wish each one of us takes a leaf out from their books and ensures that no matter what, we shall always look at the bigger picture and promise to paint it with brighter colours for a better tomorrow, a better world.

Thank You.
