KeyKey — typing tutor for Mac (Media Kit)

KeyKey is a typing tutor for managers, programmers, taxi drivers, optometrists, massage therapists, astrologers, ophthalmologists, clergymen, sailors, guides, journalists, linguists, architects, traffic inspectors, tutors for punctuation and women during lactation.

It doesn’t matter who you are, how old you are and how high your current typing level is. For two or three weeks of systematic training you will master blind typing and will be able to type quickly and without printer’s errors. We guarantee it.

KeyKey Idea

KeyKey works offline, you don’t need to log in via Facebook, read ads, add people to friendlist and do other social nonsence. You just run the tutor, train for 10–15 minutes and go out on an errand.

Unlike the tutors that give you the task to type meaningless combinations of symbols like “zxxzxz zx xx”, KeyKey “dips” you into a usual text. First, it is simple, but according to your success it becomes more difficult. We did our best to make the training maximally easy and fast.

How does KeyKey work

  1. Start KeyKey and put your hands on the keyboard so that the index fingers are on the keys ”F” and ”J”;
  2. Type the text line from the screen. If you don’t know the key — look at it on the screen keyboard, it is highlighted with a circle;
  3. To restart, press ENTER. A new line will be formed in light of previous mistakes.

Pay attention, that the keyboard is divided into zones. Each finger is responsible only for its zone. Those who type not with ten, but with several fingers, spend more time for it. Your task is to involve all fingers into work. But it will happen only after the muscle memory will be developed. For this you shall work systematically.

What is the point

The training line is the result of the analysis of thousands of books and articles. After analyzing the text, we found out:

  • the popularity of letter distribution
  • the popularity of words distribution
  • the average length of words in a sentence

On the basis of the analysis we have made 6 lessons that are automatically switched according to the student’s success. If you type without mistakes, the difficulty will increase. And vice versa — it will go down, if you start “crapping”.

KeyKey will ajust itself to your current level on its own. Your task is to launch the tutor systematically and enter the text. In its true colors, this simplicity is the main advantage of KeyKey over its competitors.

The current version of KeyKey works with the English (QWERTY and DVORAK), Russian and Ukrainian (ЙЦУКЕН) languages.

In KeyKey there are no lessons with numbers and punktuation marks yet, but we are already working on them. These lessons will appear already in the next update. As well as the statistics.

KeyKey lessons

After analyzing gigabytes of books, we found out that the most popular letters are e, t, a, o. This means, when typing any text, you will need to type this letters more often than the other. That’s why KeyKey will offer you to start training from typing a line like this:

Training line on the first lesson

As soon as your fingers will remember these basic “chords” and you will type the line without mistakes, we will automatically add to them the next popular letters: n, i, h, s, r. As a result, a new line will be a little bit more difficult:

Training line on the second lesson

The line becomes more difficult automatically while you are typing it without mistakes and all letters from alphabet will be over.

If arguing with “lessons”, there are seven of them in KeyKey. Six of them are for studying certain lessons, and the seventh is for the simulation of a usual text, where words and their length are distributed evenly like in real texts.

The process of switching between lessons happens automatically and invisible. But if you want a bit more control, in the menu you can switch manual choice of each of seven lessons.
