I chose Zeta, Zeta chose me
By: Brooke Duggan
College is such an exciting time and I was ready for the best four years of my life. I had no idea how much joining the sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, would add to my college experience. Even in the first couple weeks of being a member I met so many amazing girls and participated in events I could not have done if I wasn’t a part of this. I was initiated and welcomed into my own Zeta family with my big. I went to socials, formals, philanthropy events, homecoming week, sporting events, Greek week, the list goes on and on… I always had something to do and someone to do it with.
This year was harder for me and Zeta showed me more support and love than I could have ever asked for. My father passed away the summer before this school year and when I walked into Zeta that first day back I was surrounded with hugs. I moved into the house this year and having the constant support system really helped me with the mourning process. Since Zeta was always helping me, I wanted to give back and help others. Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. Throughout the school year we attend and host several events to raise money for the cause. I volunteered to participate in every event that I could. I also found myself a little and welcomed her into my family. This year was not about the social scene for me. This year was about creating friendships and being there for others. It showed me how much more Zeta had to offer than just fun events to go to on the weekends. Zeta became my family.
My junior year is only halfway done. This semester in Zeta has given me my best friends. I finally know where I fit in our 200 women chapter. I am still living in the house and my best friend is my roommate. I participated in recruitment this fall and met so many amazing women and welcomed 60 into our chapter. My little found a little of her own and now I have a beautiful grandlittle and family. Although the workload in college is getting tougher, I have had the most fun and created the best memories with my sisters this semester than any year before.
As you can see I do not have a video for my senior yet…
I am looking forward to the next year and a half with my sisters. I’m sure by the end of senior year I will have found my future bridesmaids and grown in my lifelong friendships.
