Life Lessons from a bike rider
Q: I’ve heard that you ride very fast on the roads. Is that true?
A: I’m neither fast nor slow.
I ride as fast as I can brake.
If I’m too fast, my brakes won’t work.
If I’m too slow, people behind me will be pissed off. Pissed off people are often dangerous. They go wild, accelerate with confidence. Now, that’s a problem.
They become almost unpredictable. They never know how the adjacent riders will react to this unpredictability.
Predictability is very important. Unpredictability deteriorates other’s trust and confidence. They never know how confident people around them are. Them moving fast can make the traffic go berserk & may be every one around will fall.
Never run parallel to or around pissed off people. Their wild headedness can hinder your motion.
Another thing they have to understand — we are not in a race. We are all headed to destination, everyone to their own. If you skip the red light ahead, that doesn’t make you a winner. You just become the one who arrived at the party too soon just to witness nothingness.
So, as I said, I m neither fast nor slow. It all depends on the traffic around. On a free road, I pull the gas as much as I can. On the busy roads, I focus on gear shifting, braking & steering.
If you find yourself at advantage, do not hesitate to move fast. But, if you’re in a crowd, you’ve to be strategic & focused.
I always keep a safe distance between me & the vehicle ahead.
In life you may be following someone, trying to catch up. But you never know when they’ll pull their brakes, or slow down. If you keep a safe distance, you can pull your brakes on time, introspect, asses the situation, change lanes and move ahead. While the people you followed will bestill stuck, you will keep moving.
