OLD PASSIONS DIE HARD

Do you like photography? Perhaps you enjoy snapping away with your phone or even a point and shoot that you like to carry around. I’ve always enjoyed capturing moments, it’s not necessarily the image but that instant, the one where if you don’t snap a photo you know that you will regret it later.

For the past 12 years I have been partaking in photography of all sorts and at different levels. At first, it was disposables with 12 or 24 exposures. Then it was the first digital point and shoots to hit the market, which really opened up a whole new world to those who weren’t familiar with film cameras. Then around 2004 I purchased my first DSLR, an Olympus e-510 with a 50mm, a macro lens and a 150 telephoto lens. I even took classes on how to shoot and develop 35mm film just so that I could feel like a real photog, learning my ISO’s, aperture, shutter speed and white balance. I even bought myself a 1985 Nikon N2000. I used that bastard for weddings, portraits, head-shots and events. But once phones came out with decent cameras business began to slow down, big time. So I went back into my art and opened up a design studio.

The other day I was going through my closet and found my old camera bag, the equipment is out dated but the love is still brand new. I instantly pulled my cam out and charged up the battery. After a few snaps I realized that I desperately need to upgrade my gear, after all I am a registered photo journalist with NPPA which I will be taking much more seriously. This blog will be dedicated to my research, I’ll post up photos and rekindle the passion that I have always had for photography. I guess old passions die hard.
