Meteor Shower

A shower of meteors light up the night sky. I keep looking until they are enveloped by the darkness of the night. Beautiful and mesmerizing as they seem, I think about why they must have fallen from the galaxy drifting away from all the stars. Were they banished from returning back because of something terrible done by them? Were they all punished because of the havoc wreaked by one? Am I like one of those meteors? Cast off and alone amidst a crowd of people!
Had he dared to fall in love with a star? Had he dared to fall in love at all? But unlike me he had dared to tell the gods of his love and they had struck him down with a loud clap of thunder. I too fear being struck down & I fear being cast off into the unknown. While I sail off into the horizon, I can’t pretend to have any hope for she is the shore that’ll bring me relief. Am I the meteor struck down by the star? Stranded at the place where her light can’t shine upon me. A glimmer of beauty when seen on the outside but a mass of destruction within!
All this devastation for a star who refused to believe in my love and who refuses to set me free?
