Homecoming

Yesterday, I was walking back to my home
I took the same old road, oft trampled
grass, tiny pebbles, friendly banters and dust.
But yesterday, I looked up to the evening sky,
just as the sun was taking its leave
inside the gates of the kingdom of clouds.
I saw the sky blush
I saw cotton candies against twilight sea
The lush maroons and pinks and blue
Sprinkled over by some eager, early twinkling stars,
And thousands upon thousands of happy homecoming birds
Of which, I felt, I was one too.
