Be a better person in one easy step

This holiday season, you’ll probably have to interact with people. Maybe more people than usual. Family members, even.

If you’re like me, then you might occasionally think about what you’re going to say, before you actually say it. On those occasions, you may find yourself preparing to start a sentence with a variation of one of two phrases:

a) “It’s probably none of my business, but…”

b) “Well, to play devil’s advocate…”

My suggestion here: shut your mouth. You’re about to be an ass. No one needs to hear what you’re about to say, because:

a) You’re right, it’s not

b) Satan doesn’t need your evangelism

That’s it! Once you’ve mastered this step toward self-improvement, you can even pause to reflect on why you felt the need to say that thing in the first place. Spread the word to your most contrary friends and relatives.

Oh, and happy holidays.
