Nowadays, when we have our baby to take care of, the load of responsibilities has gradually increased and so is the task of buying baby toys and other accessories for them. For some parents, it could be the most difficult task. Just because we have a number of choices available in the market, even our confusion to choose one among them would also increase. What features and specifications do we usually look into a toy when we go to buy them?

The material, its safety, affordability. Is the end of the list? Then here we have come up with some of the features besides material, safety and affordability to look for in a toy for your baby are as follows –

  • Go For Those Which Are Open-ended:

Here open-ended toys mean those toys which can be used in multiple ways. Try to get those toys that don’t have one desired response from your baby. Kids Toys are those special items with which your baby would be spending his/her childhood. Thus more open-ended a toy is, the more likely it is to grow with your baby throughout each and every step of his/her childhood.

  • Let Them Discover & Explore New Things:

It is a proven fact that children are natural-born experimenters. Even in our childhood we might have had such a thinking in our mind that “what happens if I do this?!” As those days have passed away, but yet that same thinking would involve in our child’s mind. So it’s your prime duty to look for toys that could respond differently along with your child’s actions or even those toys with pieces that could be removed and used for different activities. This feature would go right along with open-endlessness since these features are even the key features of open-ended toys.

  • Promote Interaction & Language At Early Age Itself:

There are many toys prevailing in the market that are more supportive of playing and talking to your baby than others. It would be a great help for parents to have a book that reads itself to your toddler as she would just turn pages or push buttons. And even a spider toy that sings the whole “Itsy Bitsy Spider” song would never promote that imitation of hand motions as we mommy or daddy would sing it to the baby. So eventually the work of a parent would decrease, but along with it the chance of baby interacting with her parents would also decrease. Thus it is recommendable to look for toys that would do less for a child and that allow space for parents to ask questions, tell stories, sing songs, and make observations.

  • Opt Those Relevant to Real Life:

For babies, it is the time when they would start learning about the world around them. They would eventually try to associate words with the pictures in books and those toys that exist in their world. Hence the objects that they play with and interact with on a daily basis would contribute to that understanding of the world. As a result, it is always advisable to advocate for at least some of a baby’s toys to be related to our real-life objects. You can even look for baby books that have real photos or realistic drawings of animals and toy animals that actually look like animals. Like our childhood days, let our baby play with cups and wooden spoons, wooden blocks, mirrors, etc.
