What a great article. Thanks for articulating something that is difficult for women to talk about. For centuries the only power afforded to women was seduction. Hence looks and youth have been pronounced paramount into the 21st century. And we, as women, are forced to seek men’s approval through our sexuality. That’s why women appear to enjoy objectification because it means they have some sort of control or leverage where there otherwise is none. But, I promise you, if there was a choice between this leverage or to have an opportunity at equality, the answer would not be objectification. For my daughter I see a glimmer of hope that all this is changing. For my son I see the depiction of sexual assault among males becoming less accepted and passed off as just good old boy locker room talk. Boys will be boys but not my boy. Never my son.
