The beautiful ocean giant
The whale shark is the largest shark in the world — it really is the largest fish in the sea! Just as humans have fingerprints, whale sharks have a unique pattern of spots that allows each individual to be identified. They filter microscopic plankton through their huge gills. The distribution of whale sharks indicates where there are plankton and works as an indicator of the health of the ocean and ecosystems.
