11:09 #5: WEIRD IS GOOD
‘We’re all made up from the weirdness we try to hide from the world.’ — From a book I can’t find and google won’t be nice.
We’re all made of tiny little eccentricities that made us ‘different’. Sometimes I wonder if the tag ‘weird’ is really necessary if it’s such a norm. But those are just random straying thoughts that sometimes end up making no sense in my head.
The weird tag has become so commonplace and normalized that you find people using it as a cover ‘to make the less-easily-loveable aspects of our personalities fall under the more acceptable umbrella of “offbeat yet charming quirks.’ Weird is … Weird is just you being different (which is normal)
Weird. is. good.
So I’m learning to stop shying away from it.
I’m learning that the fact that I prefer to drink hot tea even when it’s hot and chew on ice when it’s raining cats and dogs is not such a terrible thing to be ashamed of. I’m learning that I am not crazy for collecting hardcover notebooks just to stare at them and rub my fingers through the pages; I’m just a collector.
I’m learning that it really is not weird that I can’t even read properly in a moving vehicle. I’m learning and accepting that I love drinking semo with milk and a shitload of sugar instead of eating it is not weird. I’m learning that is isn’t at all weird that I am admitting to be scared of what comes after success.
I’m learning that it’s not so weird that I have to sit and filter through all of my habits to see what is weird just for this post. Maybe I’m not so weird. Or maybe my weird has become so normal to me, I don’t see it as weird.
Whatever if you are, know this. Weird is different…Weird is unique.
Different is good.
Unique is good
Weird is good.
