We’re growing the family…
Over the past 2.5 years, we’ve built Rough Draft Ventures brick-by-brick alongside our student team and collaborators from General Catalyst Partners. What started out as an idea aimed at students helping students launch startups has grown to a sizable community, and we’ve been lucky to work with amazing students and university startups along the way.
Now the time is ripe for us to take RDV to the next level, and we are looking for a Head of Platform to help grow and expand our network of great young founders!
A quick day-in-the-life:
- Profiling RDV startups on social media (like this awesome feature of our founders Ari & Conrad!)
- Onboarding new student teams & making them feel at home. Continuing to develop our kit of resources to get them jumpstarted, and engaging with the community over our email lists & Slack group. This is a chance to work with over 35 startups on all dimensions: press / recruiting / strategy / marketing / partnerships.
- Planning great community-building dinners & events that bring together teams and students beginning to pursue new ideas (here’s the last dinner we hosted at the Sinclair rooftop in Harvard Square)
- Developing new initiatives to support and foster a connected community— via events / programs / content / interviews / resources. We always have a blank canvas for sketching new ideas that can encourage & ignite college entrepreneurship.
- ??? new stuff you imagine ???
Some of the things we’re looking for:
- Organization skills —precision juggling of emails, calendar invites, Google spreadsheets, event lists etc.
- 0–3 years out of college (or maybe you didn’t go to college, cool too! it takes all types). Hungry & hard-working is really the special ingredient.
- Passion for & experience in community-building and magnetism for bright, curious people.
- Solid writing and native social media skills.
- Dynamic self-starter: can develop new ideas & see them to fruition. This is a fast-paced, fun environment of millennials using the newest apps and tools.
- Attention to detail and ability to connect the dots… in RDV’s marketing materials, stories, and events.
- Deep appreciation of tech & startups: genuine interest in helping startup companies grow from two people hacking stuff together in their dorm room through the company life-cycle. It’s a roller coaster (just ask our portfolio teams Mark43 or Beepi) and you will be uniquely positioned to help these great young founders.
