“Hey, Travis and Joel my name is Jared. I’m a big fan of the show, and I just had a quick question for you guys. I’m pretty new to cryptocurrency. One thing that I have noticed, it seems like some currencies take longer to transact than others when I’m sending or receiving the coin.
So I just was wondering if you can kind of explain a little bit of that process to me and also kind of what transaction fees play in that process as well. Thanks.” Jared asks by voicemail

This is all based on the mechanics of the blockchain and the amount of transactions in the queue. Bitcoin was set up to act like gold, you don’t use gold to buy things all of the time. It’s more of a storage of wealth. Other cryptocurrencies act as currencies. Litecoin acts like a storage of wealth, as well, however the transactions are much faster.

Ripple, Stellar Lumens, and even Dogecoin have smoking fast transactions, and take little amounts for the transaction.

Coins like Bitcoin have transaction fees now, as incentives to the miners to include that transaction into the next block. To sum it up, it depends on the currency in which you are transferring money! Hope that helps!

Make sure to email, voicemail, FB message, or tweet us your Bitshares ID, so we can send you 100,000 BADCOIN!

Did you see the Mayweather/McGregor fight? Well, that was a big deal for many people… but what we found interesting is that Mayweather is beginning to focus on cryptocurrency. Floyd “Crypto” Mayweather.

Last month, he promoted the STOX ICO, and just a few days before the fight, he promoted another one, Hubii.Network.

We haven’t done much research into either one, but it’s interesting to see how crypto is making it’s way into the mainstream.

And what about Litecoin?!

Litecoin hit an all-time high at around $65. It’s come down a bit. But wow! To the moon!

And keeping with the theme of instagram posts. Joel bought a physical Bitcoin. Now, it has no value. But he seems pleased.

There are cryptocurrencies for sale on Ebay, but you should be careful. They are price gouging and the physical coins MAY have some BTC attached to them, but it’s hard to verify. Proceed with caution!

In this week’s sponsored ICO Spotlight Interview, we connect with Wolk. Wolk is very intriguing to Travis and Joel, as we are both in the marketing space. Wolk is what is called a DSP, a demand-side platform for advertising.

Advertising is a $500,000,000,000 a year industry. That is 500 BILLLLLION. Wolk is going to do some interesting things with blockchain and their WOLK token to impact the space.

Here is a DSP in a nutshell.

A demand-side platform (DSP) is a system that allows buyers of digital advertising inventory to manage multiple ad exchange and data exchange accounts through one interface.[1] Real-time bidding for displaying online advertising takes place within the ad exchanges, and by utilizing a DSP, marketers can manage their bids for the banners and the pricing for the data that they are layering on to target their audiences. Much like Paid Search, using DSPs allows users to optimize based on set Key Performance Indicators such as effective Cost per Click(eCPC), and effective Cost per Action (eCPA). — Wikipedia

Here’s Wolk’s explainer video:

Their coin is called WOLK, and advertisers, brands, and agencies will need the token to access their data. And the data partners that they work with will get the majority of that WOLK.

If you are interested in advertising and want to participate in their ICO, it is available to citizens in most countries, including the USA, as it is not classified as a security. WOLK is a utility token.

Wolk’s ICO (Token Generation Event) — September 10, 2017 — October 9, 2017

Private Sale — September 10, 2017 — September 18, 2017

WOLK will be released on September 15, 2017

Learn more about WOLK and read their whitepaper, if you so choose!

That wraps up this week’s episode!
