Who is Aisha Qandisha?

Aisha Qandisha or Aisha Qandia or Qandisa (Qundisha) is a genetic name for a cannibal in Moroccan folklore, and when luring her human victims, she is described as a beautiful young woman, but this magic hides her enormous size and hideous nature as she is a predator lurking on the banks of the Sebo River around Aquidal in Marrakesh and sometimes in the grounds of the Sultan's Palace

Waiting for any lonely man to take it and as soon as he approaches it there is no escape for it will soon reveal its true form and consume it under water, as it hates humans and if its quarry cannot reach another human or dwelling in time it is doomed and sometimes it may be generous And she releases into his world a man who willingly satisfies her, laden with rich gifts

On the summer solstice, sacrifices are offered to her, as she is a possible copy of an older goddess such as Astarte, and some consider her the daughter of Sidi Shamhroosh, the King of the Jinn. Name her after the human name Aisha and the name of Satan Qandisha.[1]

The legend of Aisha Al-Qundisha

Kandisa is a legendary figure in Moroccan folklore associated with lust and possession, where she is sometimes portrayed as a demon or a jinn, and is known to capture the spirits of young people and drive them crazy, and Gnawa rituals or nights are held around the world in contemporary times to expel Kandisha from the possessed victim, as this includes Traditional music, the burning of incense and sometimes sheep sacrifices that last all night, and in describing the young people’s acceptance of the Quandisha as a symbol of subversive feminine power, notably with a compelling quote from the editor of the Quandisha magazine about restoring the frightening side of Quandisha’s femininity

  • In the first reading of this legend I will admit that the character Kandisha is coming from a superficial perspective of 19 years old, and after thinking about the character of Kandisha I recognized the familiar aspects of the story as the woman associated with lust must be a demon, of course, and the intelligent seductress is an inherently evil presence and is sure to betray men to death sudden.
