One word that describes how you work: Interactively

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without? Why?

Some apps I use most frequently are Spotify, Snapchat, Twitter, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Gmail. These apps help me stay updated with those around me and in current news, communicate effectively, and keep on top of tasks at hand.

This is one of my favorite podcasts on Spotify for getting new, interesting information about topics around the world.

What’s your best time-saving shortcut/life hack?

My best time-saving shortcuts are keeping an updated weekly calendar of assignments, appointments, and tasks that I have to accomplish. I do this by finding gaps within my schedule to complete everything on time. I continuously edit my calendar when I complete or add a task to ensure that I don’t forget certain responsibilities or get overwhelmed.

What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else? What’s your secret?

Something I think I am generally pretty good at is adapting to any situation. It may take me a few tries, but I always end up mastering what I’m working on/what I’m involved in. I don’t settle for less and I constantly strive to improve.

What do you listen to while you work?

I enjoy a very diverse musical palette. However, while working I generally listen to either classical music like BWV 1007 or a wide variety hip-hop including Jay Z, Biggie, Fabolous, Miguel, etc. Classical music helps me focus on larger, stress inducing projects, while hip-hop drives me to get things done in a more productive manner.

What are you currently reading?

Currently, I am reading Existentialism is a Humanism by Jean-Paul Sartre. It is an interesting take on how we perceive ourselves and choose to live our daily lives. Sartre leaves no room for excuses, only personal growth. It’s a great read, check it out!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received was a simple statement from an old coworker. I used to get very stressed trying to juggle so many activities and responsibilities. One day, while I was venting to him he interrupted me and said, “Life is a series of problems, you just need to solve them one by one.” It wasn’t too radical, but it changed my outlook on life. Now I see everything as a series rather than an overwhelming pile.

Where do you find inspiration and new ideas?

I find inspiration and new ideas from books that I read, professors that intrigue me, and in everyday life.

You’ve had a good day in the courtroom when you’ve changed someone’s mind. You’ve had a good day in the seminar room when someone changes yours.” ~Steven E. Landsburg

What’s your favorite quote?

If you never assume importance, you never lose it.” ~Lao Tzu
