I recently had the honor to have two essays posted on Naked Capitalism, Yves Smith’s outstanding blog. There were many interesting and thoughtful comments posted on the site following the posting of the essays. I will soon try to review these comments and respond to some of them.

One of the essays discussed the usurpation of the electronic medical record as a billing document, thus destroying its utility as a real patient care document. I would be very interested in any experiences others have had with this problem. I found that as a surgeon, the electronic records were often byzantine and the critical information nearly inaccessible. The essay can be found on the Naked Capitalism website under archives for the date July 28.

I have an email associated with this blog, badmedicine005@gmail.com. I would happily respond to any emails sent to me. As I stated in earlier posts, this blog is designed primarily to help patients and families negotiate our complex healthcare system.
