Advice to myself 10+ years ago

  • Invest all of your savings into an index fund at Vanguard. Don’t look back.
  • Don’t forget to invest in your Roth IRA too
  • All those guys who break your heart will end up stalking you on LinkedIn years later
  • Never feel guilty about the money you spend on traveling
  • Don’t feel guilty about time that you take to better yourself
  • Never stop learning
  • Whine a little less loudly
  • Keep that side hustle so you can afford to travel more
  • Call your parents more often
  • Don’t slouch
  • Try to remember more math stuff, because all of that sh*t will come back to haunt you on the GMAT and in business school
  • But don’t worry because you’ll always have someone in group work from finance/engineering who will do all of the number crunching for your group :)
  • Have fun. Don’t worry so much.
  • People and relationships matter. Cultivate both.
  • Wear sunblock
  • Remember the good times. Let go of the bad memories. Forgiveness is a gift that you give yourself.
  • You will be unemployed 3x. You make it out of the first 2 just fine, and you probably will too for the 3rd one.
  • Waste less time on guys that aren’t worth your time, but it takes you awhile to learn this lesson…
  • Be present. Give people your attention. Enjoy the precious moments which are all fleeting.
  • Some people aren’t meant to be in your life for forever. Don’t beat yourself up over it.
  • You won’t be in New York for forever. You do escape eventually — to Europe! It’s awesome!
  • You miss Anglo-saxons so much you come back to America though. But don’t worry, your story isn’t over yet. To be continued…
