Bahrain Participates in Regional Forum on Media and Informational Literacy

On August 6, 2016, Bahrain’s Education Ministry participated in the Regional Forum on Media and Information Literacy (MIL) in Arab States, organized by the UNESCO Office in Cairo.

The forum discussed mechanisms to promote a culture of media and information literacy across Arab societies, and the challenges facing those in charge of these issues.

Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Member of the Arab Chapter of Global Alliance on Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy, Shadha Al-Muradi, said that several recommendations were made during the forum to increase awareness of the importance of MIL and its role in facing terrorism and extremism. The forum also called for increasing community partnership in promoting MIL concepts.

The forum was a follow-up to the first Regional Forum on Media and Information Literacy in Arab States held in April 2015. Bahrain was selected as a member of the Arab Chapter of Global Alliance on Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy, which was launched during the event.
