Los Angeles-based Aecom Wins Bahrain Road Improvement Projects

Bahrain Ministry of Works and Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning awarded an engineering consultancy services contract to Aecom to carry out Phase Two of the Muharraq Ring Road and the fourth Manama-Muharraq causeway project.

Aecom is headquartered in Los Angeles and provides global technical and management support services. It caters to a broad range of markets, including infrastructure, transportation, facilities, environment, energy, water and government.

The Ministry stated that Aecom won the deal after emerging as the lowest bidder, with a value of 13 million USD.

The Muharraq Ring Road project is to be implemented in three phases. The Ministry confirmed that the first phase will be devoted to marine dredging and leveling works. The second phase will include civil works and road paving, and the final phase will involve preparation of engineering designs for the bridge and sea intersection of a bridge north of Manama.

The Muharraq Road Project will allow commuters to smoothly move from Muharraq to Manama, easing the pressure on each of the airport roads. It will also help boost a steady flow of traffic into the Bahrain International Airport and Prince Khalifa bin Salman Port.

The project will ultimately facilitate smoother and greater economic movement in the Kingdom.
