Role of Bahraini Youth in Development Praised on World Youth Day

In light of International Youth Day on August 12, 2016, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad al Khalifa, the representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, highlighted the critical role that Bahraini youth play in the sustainable development program of the Kingdom.

H.H. Shaikh Nasser said that the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ultimately falls on the youth in the country, as they represent the link between development accomplishments and who will reap the future benefits of the program. He pointed out that Bahraini youth have played a spectacular and effective role in drafting and developing the concepts of sustainable development in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and continue to attain these goals on a regular basis.

His Highness emphasized that the role of Bahraini youth should not be underestimated, as its their power that is capable of pushing forth change and development in their communities to achieve the development goals to which all nations aspire.

He added, “In line with the directives and the direct care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, we in the Kingdom of Bahrain have provided youths the opportunity to participate in the development process and have provided them with the necessary capabilities to engage in the developmental process in harmony with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development 2030.”

International Youth Day is celebrated across the world each year in August. The theme this year was “The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production.”
