ChatGPT is an AI chatbot launched and developed by OpenAI. It is an extremely intelligent chatbot, that is able to type essay-style and beautiful answers to the users’ queries. From writing a story to coding, ChatGPT is able to answer almost all types of questions. Launched in November, 2022, it has taken the whole Internet by storm, since the software is one of its kind. However, this wouldn’t continue for long. Recently, Google has announced the future release of an AI chatbot, called Bard. Bard is said to be the rival of ChatGPT.

But, What is BARD?

Bard is an artificially intelligent conversational chatbot service. It is based on the two-year old Language Model for Dialogue Applications(LaMDA). According to the CEO of Google and Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, it is still in its “experimental” phase, as mentioned in a recent blog published in blog.google.

Some Features of Bard

Google has released some more information regarding Bard. It is powered by LaMDA. Some of the salient features are as follows:

  1. Combination of knowledge and AI: Bard aims to combine the all the available knowledge and information in the world with the “power, intelligence and creativity” of Google’s language models. In this way, it will be able to successfully create a powerful tool that is completely independent, and is single-handedly more than enough to get the job done.

2. Fetching fresh data: Bard is going to fetch the required data from the web at real time. The information will not be preloaded anywhere. This ensures that the responses given by the chatbot will be original and trustworthy, unlike responses that are usually found blatantly copy pasted from other sites.

3. A promoter of creativity: Bard will also help promote and uphold creativity. It will not only give the answers, rather it will help the user to understand the desired concept better, and will clench his/her thirst for knowledge. In turn, it will help the user teach someone else, thereby also enhancing the flow of information as well.

Why Bard Is Being Used With LaMDA?

According to Sundar Pichai, Bard is being released initially with a “lightweight model version” of LaMDA. This makes the model smaller in size. As a result, it will require less computing power, which is going to enable it to scale to more users, which is going to allow more feedback. This combined with Google’s own testing measures will make sure that the responses received by Bard will be of high-quality, secure, trustworthy and genuine in real-world information.

Future of This Technology

Google is initially releasing Bard for its trusted testers before releasing it to the general public. It is still in the development phase. It will be released after some alterations are done based on Google’s internal testing and the user feedback. Bard can be expected to release within a few weeks.

Google has also announced that the users who aren’t going to use the chatbot will not feel left out, as the impact will be visible in Google’s search tool as well. According to Google, the present-day searches are usually more insightful and requires thinking, such as “Is it possible to survive in a totally new planet?”, compared to previous times, when the questions were direct, and answers were distinct, like “What is the distance between the Earth and Mars?”. In such situations, artificial intelligence is really helpful. The AI-based properties of the search tool will make a difficult concept very easily understandable in a simple language. Therefore, we will be able to learn more from the web and also trust the information provided. This feature is also going to be released soon.

Artificial Intelligence is the next big thing. The rate in which new innovations and new technologies are coming out is just mindboggling. Google as well as other companies are constantly coming up with new AI models that are making our lives a lot easier, and giving us time to be more productive and explore different things in life.

Happy Coding!!
