The Bakunawa is a serpent-like dragon in Philippine mythology. It is believed to be the cause of eclipses, earthquakes, rains, and wind. It was generally believed to be a sea serpent, but are also variously believed to inhabit either the sky or the underworld.

Tales about the Bakunawa say that it is the cause of eclipses. During ancient times, Pre-colonial Cebuanos believed that their supreme god, Bathala, created 7 moons to light up the sky. The Bakunawa, amazed by their beauty, would rise from the ocean and swallow the moons whole, angering Bathala and causing them to be mortal enemies.

About us:

Bakunawa is a low tax Meme token inspired by the Dragon that lived in the dark depths of the ocean. The tax starts at 5% for the first 800 transactions, after which taxes will reduce to 3%.

Bakunama wanted to eat the moon to light up the dark ocean. Inspired by the dragon and our love for Eth we though this would be the ideal token given these times.
