I’d love to engage with you in a meaningful discussion as you suggested was your thoughts behind…

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond. To give you a little background of where I am coming from, I was raised a Christian and was in the Anglican church up until recently. I have had a growing list of questions piling up over the years and I have spent a fair bit of time trying to find answers for myself, mainly by reading and watching debates.

I have started to come to the conclusion that religion is a man made idea, however given the promise / threat of the Christian faith, I am not content to just “think I am right”. I think that there are many motivations behind my post, probably more than I am consciously aware of. But my main thinking is that given that there are many smart Christians out there, if I make public my thoughts, then others may be able to critique my thoughts and point out errors in my thinking or reasoning.

If my thinking is wrong, then this could save me from an eternal mistake. If my thinking is right, then maybe I will save others from wasting this life (if it is the only life we have).

So hopefully that gives you an idea of my motivation / intent. So, I would be keen to keep the discussion going. I will probably post some more things in the future for debate, but this was a starting point. As you can imagine, there are many other issues in mind beyond the whether the doctrine of Christianity is “fair” but this was an easy starting point for me to try and get some of my thoughts down.
