I’m surprised people haven’t responded to this.
As someone who makes their living writing code but also loves to draw (my profile picture is one of my drawings) I can safely say you are traveling in the wrong circle. About 3 years ago I ejected all the nerdy engineer types from my twitter feed and replaced them with animators from Pixar, Sony Animation, Disney and Nickelodeon. I added comic book artists, tattoo artists and fine artists. My feed became more friendly, and more enjoyable to look at.
As I read these new tweets, I noticed that artists think with a completely different mindset. It’s hard to define that difference, but I think is based on an exploration of emotions and conflicts of thoughts. Engineers think in terms of problems and solutions. Trying to get an engineer to understand a creative drive, especially an artistic one, is difficult. Yes, engineers are creative. But more in terms of how to solve a problem than how to explore their feelings.
It sounds like you need to express some artistic creativity along with your engineer creativity. You may need to create an Instagram account and start posting some drawings in order to let this need out. Let me know if you do so I can follow you. Mine’s slpssm.
