Christmas without a smartwatch

Dec 22, 2015 · 1 min read

I’ve been wearing a smartwatch on my wrist for a long time now. It all started with na Italian innovation — I’m Watch (the project was not hugely successful, and is closing down right now).

My first smart(ish) watch

Shortly after Samsung came out with their devices — starting with the initial Samsung Gear (the one with the camera), through Samsung Gear Fit, Samsung Gear Neo and the rather large Galaxy Gear S — I used them all. The last couple of months though, a black Apple Watch has was notifying me of incoming calls, reminding of events, told me to stand up.

Tomorrow I am taking it off. At least for the Christmas time. I am going to find my regular watch, and use it instead for a couple of days. I think I know what I am going to miss most about a smart device on my wrist. But who knows? I might be surprised?
