The 5 headlines of the day
It’s funny how you can follow several major media channels during one day and see the same headlines on each channel. The problem with traditional media is that they really, really underestimate the power of instant news these days:
- 5 things you need ot know this am
- 7 things before your first coffee
- same tweet, same tweet, same tweet
…they are all the same.
It’s even more ridiculous that POTUS tells the news himself, and yet, everyone ‘re-tweets’. It’s amazing.
Today I watched 2 interesting headlines, Nike (Kaepernick) and Joe Biden (running). Everyone ‘reported’, no one ‘opiniated’.
I have yet to see a detailed, well though-out opinion on what the heck this means for the people, the same people that are (not) watching the commercials that media is making money on for ‘reporting’. Pick just one demographics, lest say 37–38.5, single, female and and working at USPS or Delta. It doesn’t matter. pick one demographic…and just say something…of a value! Does the fact that nike picked their new face and had critics attaching them mean anything to me. Will the new Nike be better quality or worse, price going up or not, or him replacing a sexy female athlete/model face, well, that’s important to a certain demographics, eh? At least that….but nothing.
If they don’t have a way to motivate the smart non-botox talking heads to give their opinion on these topics, they can at least deploy AI of some sort. I feel like with all of the AI/Blockchain/M2M buzz words, you would think that there will be someone finding a good use of it to make news more appealing to someone, predicting something. Even massively being wrong is a step in the right direction. It’s hilarious that IBM runs AI ads right before the above-mentioned headlines of the day. Hilarious.
The only thing getting better on major media is the botox, even with 4K it still looks good.
