According to Gartner’s Magic Quadrant, QlikView is one of the best BI tools. QlikView provides help in collecting data from multiple data sources and analyzing the created reports by using QlikView features. The best feature of QlikView is that it makes data collection, integration and processing very fast.

QlikView tool generates reports and the software automatically derives the relationship between data. Once this is over, the important decision to foster business is taken, by analyzing the enterprise’s management.

In a nutshell, QlikView is a data discovery tool that facilitates the creation of dynamic apps for analyzing data.

History of QlikView?

Developed by the company QlikTech (founded in 1993), QlikView was previously known as “Quik View,” a PC — based software in which the abbreviation “Quik” referred to quality, understanding, interaction, and knowledge.

Moving further, let us discuss some important components of QlikView in brief:

  1. Dashboards — A platform to create reports.
  2. QlikView Publisher (QVP) — Responsible for Data Loading and Distribution.
  3. QlikView Server (QVS) — An interface between a client and the QlikView apps or backend system.
  4. Management Console — It manages all aspects of QlikView’s environment having a web-based interface.
  5. QlikView Developer (QVD) — a Desktop tool based on Windows.

QlikView Architecture:

QlikView Architecture

i) Front End-

The front end of the presentation component is a browser — based platform where apps are used by backend publisher and server to visualize documents sent to it. The QlikView Server (QVS) acts as a mediator and manages client — backend communication. The server sends QlikView documents in the.qvw format whenever a client requests a QlikView document (through HTTP or QVP protocol). The QVS is also responsible for the security of the customer.

ii) Back End-

The back end or Application platform has a QlikView Developer that creates all QlikView documents. Therefore, it has all the documents from the source. .qvw or without GUI is .qvd (data only files) the format of documents with GUI support that are visible in the frontend. All these documents pass through QlikView server to the frontend using QVP. QlikView Publisher is responsible for loading and distributing data from all kinds of sources using QlikView servers.

iii) Infrastructure Resource-

This is the QlikView architecture’s fundamental layer as it is the data access point. Sources of data such as Microsoft Excel, Word, SAP, Oracle, Twitter, Facebook, etc. This is synchronized directly with the backend system.

Learn how QlikView works

Apart from that, there are certain features of QlikView that make it a popular and unique tool:

  1. Collaboration.
  2. Unique Data Discovery and Global Search.
  3. Secure Working Environment.
  4. Absolute Control Over Data.
  5. Flexibility & Integrations.

Conclusion:

Ultimately, I would say that QlikView’s impact is now seen in both the corporate and other domains. Companies such as Swedbank, Genzyme have positive views and are publicly satisfied with QlikView Software.
