Today is a very important day: World Mental Health Day! Mental health is something we should be talking about all year round, but today marks the official designation to bring more awareness and discussion about mental health. Here are some key takeaways about mental health and some resources you can use to keep the conversation going: — Mental health is an important part of everyone’s life, and it should be taken seriously. Mental illness can have serious repercussions if left untreated, so it’s important to be aware of the signs, reach out for help if needed, and engage in healthy activities — Mental health can sometimes be difficult to talk about, much less diagnose. That’s why it’s important to reach out for help if you realize something is not quite right. It’s also important to be aware of the stigma surrounding it — There are numerous resources available both online and offline focused around mental health and mental illness. From hotlines to support communities, help is always available. On this World Mental Health Day, financial giant Citi Group, together with the Mayo Clinic, the Mental Health Research Association, and the National Institute of Mental Health celebrated with an event at the United Nations. You can read all about it here. The event focused on the continued efforts to bring mental health to the forefront of the global public health agenda.
