Dear Jules,
Oliver “Shiny” Blakemore

I was reading recently, the foreward to Gatsby, that Fitzgerald was not a successful writer in his time. not successful in that not many of his books sold. apparently he survived by writing for magazines. apparently his views were not popular at the time.

he never got the benefit of the amazing stuff he wrote.

I guess non-book-buying is similar to non-post-reading?

your work reads, to me, as reflective and honest. and calm. and I don’t think these are reflective, honest, calm times w are living in.

I also read recently — or saw on youtube? — that John Lennon said that he wrote some stuff that was just churned out, and other stuff that was important to him.

Is this a reasonable price to pay for following your bliss?
