Intermittent Fasting Is the New 10,000 Steps

The 10,000 steps trend has been very sexy for the last decade or so. But it actually dates back to Japan in the 1960s.

We have all heard that the best thing we can do for our health is to walk 10,000 steps each day. People have been downloading various pedometer apps and tracking their steps. They even started integrating it by default on our phones, smart watches, etc.

And there’s nothing wrong with that. You absolutely should try to walk as much as you can on a daily basis! It’s good for your health. Especially if you live in a very sedentary culture, like the USA, or somewhere where you don’t move enough.

Now, in the last few years, something else has been gaining a lot of traction in the healthy living arena. That something is fasting.

Fasting refers to the deliberate abstention from food and/or fluids for a period of time for therapeutic purposes.

Even the word “breakfast” means “to-break-a-fast”.

It’s been done historically for religious or cultural reasons. And now, fasting has become a popular way to lose weight because you don’t have to change what you eat, just when you eat.
