Your point about AI is precisely the reason I quit my job as a hospice nurse recently.

I will continue to be available for people in my capacity to just “be” with them and provide gentle care as they move on to the wherever.

I will no longer access this practice through the use of computers and cell phones which remove accountability for decisions which can have a tremendous impact on people who are dying and their families.

Just as I may prefer to have a real fleshy person at my side while I am dying, I demand interaction with a live human being who bleeds just as I do. This is a critical element in providing “CARE!”
