Why I Don’t Read 100 Books a Year
Samantha Zhang

I read for many reasons. I most frequently read to learn something new about a subject so I can check facts for something I’m writing or find something missing in my knowledge of a topic. I read to fill information holes. I read to find out how to fix a computer problem or use a new program. I read to learn more about what’s really happening in the world so I can vote intelligently.

I also read to relax with an enjoyable novel. Sometimes I will go on a binge of escape fiction when I’m not feeling good and I’m not up to productive work.

Sometimes I read an author I know uses words skillfully and try to improve my own writing by seeing how she does it.

I never read just so I can say how much I read.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
