Bard MAT Open House
Please join us for our final Bard MAT open house next Wednesday, May 17 at 6 pm. This is an excellent opportunity to visit our classroom and study space in the education wing at the historic Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Koreatown at 3300 Wilshire Boulevard (just upstairs from the talk)
Please plan to arrive early or by public transportation (Wilshire/Vermont Red or Purple Line). Immanuel will be the site that evening for a large benefit hosted by KPFK bringing author and journalist Amy Goodman to Los Angeles. Goodman is the host and executive producer of Democracy Now! a daily, global grassroots news hour, broadcasting on public television and radio stations globally. She has won numerous awards for her journalism and authored six best selling books. (Tickets to the benefit are sold separately and can be found here.
We hope attendees will take some time prior to, or immediately after, Goodman’s talk to visit our offices directly behind the main auditorium on the second floor and learn more about Bard’s efforts in Los Angeles preparing and supporting teachers in our city’s under-resourced public schools. Our small, community-based program promotes deeper engagement with academic content, modeling good teaching, building relationships with students, promoting educational justice, and collaborating with innovative educators and organizers who are creatively re-imagining schooling at this challenging time for democratic institutions.
