I realize that writers do not usually write their own titles, but this is bothering me…The title of this piece proposes an interesting question that the piece does not answer. Crucial here is the timescale — why should the dominant “big five” expand or contract over a one-year period (2016 to 2017)? A better answer to this question would have been more definite about how often we would expect new social networks to emerge, and whether we’re in that window or outside of it. If we’re outside of it, why is that? And, is this bad?
