Blogging BMAR’s tale of begging and belonging

In this brand-new year, I am undertaking the scary and awe-inspiring job of telling somebody else’s story. Or should I say, the stories of a small family, blood-related and otherwise, of dedicated people and deserving dogs in the rural forests of East Texas.

I am writing about these challenges and triumphs because the people and animals using every shred of available resources and energy simply to get from one day to the day — with the simple and overarching goals of saving the unwanted and discarded dogs of East Texas, one at a time.

They are fighting desperate odds, for sure. And like all desperate people, they rely on a laser-like focus and a little bit of crazy to get their jobs done.

How crazy? These people decided to leave their city lives and jobs to move to a 3-county area with NO municipal animal facilities and open and run a full-service dog sanctuary and rescue operation without ANY source of government funding and with no salaries.

They work day and night, as unpaid volunteers, to save these animals. The least we can do is give them minutes out of our day to follow them in their struggles. Please join our blog.
