From nobody in nowhere: An opinion about JS Frameworks

Ever wonder what a third world country “developer” thinks about “popular” JS Frameworks? Here is my story.
In my country, there is very low quality education. I finish my studies in Computer Science, but that actually means that I learned .NET and just a couple of other concepts, and that is pretty much it.
Two years ago, my first “job” ($550 a month, yeah, I know, here that is what we call a good job) was to create a web application to get some data from all other employees.
I didn’t know anything about web development. I went to Google, typed “javascript” and ended reading W3Schools tutorials about Javascript, Jquery and PHP.
It wasn’t important information, so some PDO programming in PHP and the project was ready for production (I’m not proud of that project at all). I never found a word of AngularJS (I was afraid of clicking that link in W3School menu (I already knew Jquery, so why would I?)), Angular, React or something similar.
Later on, I became interested in JS frameworks, because, you know, it’s impossible not to notice their great advantages and other promises on making things better an easier (and of course this is not sarcasm, I mean it).
I did a quick research, and realize that there where many of them, and how many of them appear every other month or so. I wanted to pick one. To be really good at something (for a long time), and not just know something of all.
I understood how Angular was the solution to all problems in one package (even thou you don’t have some of those problems), instead of React just covering the basics so you can add what you need.
Angular been supported by Google, React by Facebook, so I picked Angular. Not because I like Google, but because I think Alphabet will last longer than Facebook.
Tried to learn it, I guess I did, but it seemed to much to accomplish to little. I wasn’t disappointed, it was just to much. Never get to truly complete a functional web app with Angular.
Got to be honest, I was never interested enough to try React, despite all the hype around it, don’t know exactly why. Maybe because I thought it was to hard to learn.
And don’t worry if some of the lines above don’t make sense or are wrong, I’m not an expert at this, I’m just trying to learn.
Then I found Vue.js. I guess I liked the flexibility, I can include it as library in a script tag for something quick, or create a real project with Node. The opinions out there said that it includes basic stuff and you can add more if you need. A mix between Angular and React, and I liked that.
I picked Vue.js as the JS framework to master and to make money from.
So, in this post there is no call to action. Actually, the Medium Partner Program doesn’t even work in my country. I just want you guys to see how we see the world of web development here in Guatemala.

I don’t think this post is gonna go viral, and neither I want to make money out of this, but I always wanted to do this: If you liked my post and want to invite me to a cup of coffee click the link below :D
