A review on Jungle Bird, a hipster’s Tiki Bar/restaurant in Cape Coral.

A delicious meal is hard to critique, but it is fun. As the place purports to be fine dining, I will critique it as such.

Entree: the gator bites.

My first thought after trying it without the dipping sauce was, “This doesn’t even need it!” The meat was succulent, soft and the breading made it even more delish. Coated evenly, and fried perfectly. With the sauce: it just added more flavor to the appetizer! Sometimes a sauce can be over powering and take over the mouth feel of the dish. This did not. It added and was a great component. I do recommend trying it without the dipping sauce first. Though, only because a sauce can mask the texture of the dish and these gator bites have such a great texture.

The Snapper: Aggressively seared, the divets and scores were profound and well worth having as the flavor gets down into…
