Break It Off Before You Break Her Heart (Don’t be a Bastard, plis dear).

Alright Men, time to be honest. Sometimes you meet a woman, like what you see and move in on her. You wine her, you dine her and you befriend her. Then up close, you realize she’s not all that. Not like there’s anything wrong with her, you’re just not really into her now that you’ve gotten to know her. That is the time to break it off. That right there, is the time to end things with her.
You have no business sticking around and letting her fall for you. Because let’s face it, you know when a woman is falling for you. When she’s always calling you and texting you and gossiping with you. Always laughing at your jokes, staring at you, smiling at you. When she’s always available if you want to talk, or hang out. Come on man! You know all the tell-tale signs. You see it happening and you hang around watching it play out like a movie? What are you doing?? What are you doing winking at her, texting her at night, sitting next to her at the office meeting? Why did you start a relationship with her? Why did you go with her to see her sick Mom?
Why’d you invite her to your cousin’s wedding, when you know you don’t really like her?
And don’t pretend like you can’t see that she’s Catching Feelings. Don’t pretend like you don’t see the way her eyes light up when you walk into a room. Don’t pretend like you don’t hear her talking to her friends about you. And don’t pretend like you’re not enjoying all the attention and affection she’s pouring at your feet.
Do not ignore the signs. Don’t bury your head in the sand bro. Don’t be complacent. Don’t be wishy-washy. Don’t be non-commital and whatever you do, do NOT go along for the ride.
Don’t just sit there, enjoying the ride when you know she wants more than a ride. You know she’s going somewhere and you know you’re not interested in her destination but you still sit in the bus... for what?? Get off at the next stop. Get off asap!!
Look it doesn’t matter that you’re the one who stepped to her, asked her out and what-not. What is important is that when you realize that she’s not what you need, you break it off. Break it off before it goes too far. Break it off before she falls irretrievably in love with you. Break it off before you break her heart. Don’t be a Bastard plis dear.
Honest to God, if you chill for the ride, enjoying the perks and then try to jump out of the bus when you’re only three blocks away from the destination, you’re an out-and-out Bastard and you have no one to tell you!
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
