On Wine. A tragedy.
Ryan Opaz

Anyone who drinks wine and is worried what others think about their wines choices should read this essay. Some folks just need to be allowed to feel good about the wine they like. Ryan Opaz gives them permission here. I totally agree. I went through phase where I tried to learn about wine. I even read Wine For Dummies, which was, by the way, very helpful. My wife bought a wine tasting kit for me after the time when my quest for wine knowledge had ended. The kit remains, years later, unused. During that time, I happened along some wines that I liked and I stuck with them. I still try new wines occasionally, but stay true to my favorites. My favorite red wine is Cecchi Toscana Sangiovese which sells for $8.99-$9.99 regularly. I sometimes buy it by the case for $6.99-$7.99 a bottle. I don’t know if it’s a good wine or even a great wine for the price, but my wife and I like it. It’s a nice wine to bring when you’re invited to dinner or lunch. This is a wine that I started buying 20 years ago and it has not failed me yet. I’m sure there are finer wines, but for me, this one is perfect.
