It is a sad commentary on our times that a large segment of our electorate has reduced its consumption of the political choices available to them to a handful of sound bites that tell them what they want to hear. It is time that we move towards full-throated debates that engage our electorate and encourage disputed policy alternatives to be compared for all to understand.
